Making Memories with Another Happy Couple
Okay.. so we promised to share a little more often and well… I’m patting myself on the back as we’ve only gone and bloody shared three blogs this week on Real Weddings we have been involved in.
Now I won’t forget this wedding in a hurry, all those gorgie dark blues – it all felt very Royal – thank you so much Kate for sharing your special day with us.
Tell us about your big day and why was it so amazing?
We initially booked our wedding three months after being engaged and we were due to marry eighteen months later. Sadly covid hit and restrictions lifted two days too late for us so we postponed our wedding to Christmas time. At the time we were gutted, but looking back, having all of our friends and family in our amazing wedding venue, who hadn’t been together for two years watching us get married was super special; it was for sure more special having been apart for so long.
We have the most amazing set of suppliers from the venue, right the way through to the cake maker everyone was brilliant. I felt like nothing was too much trouble and changing the theme of the wedding from summer to winter was a breeze.
The venue was just breathtaking on the day, seeing it dressed exactly as I imagined was magical – even more so than when we chose it.
Watching all our guests arrive was so nerve-wrecking and I was so nervous that I couldn’t even say “I Do” at the right time to Peter. Seeing his face as I walked down the aisle with all my loved ones there was everything. I had dreamt of this day since I was young; walking round the dining room table on a morning with a blanket as a veil and it lived up to all my expectations.
The food and drink soon started to flow and before I knew it I had spotted our secret singer Michael from The Undercover Waiters serving food to my guests and knew they were about to get the biggest surprise of the day (apart from our surprise dance which we practiced for ten weeks but didn’t take into account my huge dress whoops!)
After the mains, the secret singers revealed themselves and Michael and his co-star left the room amazed. Within minutes we had a full conga going round the room and not a single person was left seated for the next forty-five minutes.
One moment I remember so vividly is when Michael pulled me and Pete to one side and said “just take this in, just look at everyone and take this in” I can honestly say that moment will stay with me forever and seeing everyone singing, dancing and watching it was just amazing!

The night then erupted from there into cake, first dance and another set from the secret singers who again got the party started. To this day I still get told that our wedding was out of this world and that the Undercover waiters were the best way to get the party started anyone has seen at a wedding!
The night ended with close friends and family staying at the venue singing and dancing together recalling the past 12 hours and laughing about the day. I don’t think there is a single thing I would have changed about the day. It was perfect from start to finish.
Why did you choose your venue?
When we walked into Bunny Hill the grandeur just took our breath away, it was the most perfectly finished barn conversion I have ever seen!
Paul was the most welcoming and chatty host we had met so far and was so accommodating with my requests. I instantly wanted to book. Pete on the other hand had told me we couldn’t book the second place we had seen, we went to one further venue and on walking out Petes words were “we are booking Bunny Hill when we get in the car”
Did you marry on site or in church?
We decided we wanted to marry on-site as we didn’t want the worry of people getting from their hotels to the church then to the venue, if we married on-site everyone was sorted for the day with no worries.

Who were your caterers and what did you choose for your food options?
We had Hog and Apple as our caterers and I would recommend them to anyone for any event! We had giant sharing boards for both starters and main; steak, buttermilk chicken and belly pork. We decided against a traditional meal because it had just been Christmas and who wants another giant Sunday dinner.. for the dessert we had a Bailey chocolate torte with salted caramel sauce.
What was the theme for your wedding?
My theme was regal, with lots of dark blue and gold bling but also incorporated lots of homemade touches like a cake swing, seating plan made from old cycling wheels (we are keen cyclists) and a homemade wood burnt welcome sign, for me it’s the personal touches that make a wedding feel homely, a wedding has to reflect the bride and groom not Instagram.
Why did you choose The Undercover Waiters to share your day?
I had seen the guys on Instagram and got a bit obsessed with watching them. Pete wasn’t so sure and he didn’t think it would work and everyone would stay seated. After much begging we got on the phone to Michael and I knew straight away that we were booking them, he was so welcoming and open and honest. He instantly drew me in with that cheeky voice, we had a few follow up conversations leading up to the big day. I stand by my words on the day “I would have paid double” the electricity off them and the way they included everyone was just out of this world!
Pete still watches the videos weekly and as soon as I hear proud Mary I’m instantly back on that stage dancing with my bridesmaids. I can’t thank you enough for making the day even more perfect than I planned!
Anything else you would like to add please feel free to add here….
I still talk to Michael weekly on Instagram or Facebook and honestly feel he is more than just a supplier to me and Pete, I can’t thank him enough for what he added to our day!
