Welcome to the second instalment of our series of blogs about the real weddings our singing waiters have performed at.
Today, we hear from Krista and Daniel Bower. They married last April at the wonderful venue that is The Normans in York.
We really loved chatting with them about the memories they have from their big day and the singing waiters show.
We got married on the sunniest Easter Sunday surrounded by all our favourite people. There wasn’t one cloud in the sky and our Labrador ‘Poppy’ greeted our guests as they arrived which was extra special.
Marrying my husband in-front of a shower of fairy lights added to the magic. And breaking out into some dancing and singing during the wedding breakfast was the best surprise!
There were lots of delicious canapés followed by a Sunday roast ending with sticky toffee pudding! We ended the most perfect day dancing and eating wedding cake with our loved ones!
The Normans is so special and unique in its own way! It was the first venue we looked at and we knew straight away it was the one!
We couldn’t quite believe it was in York. The ceremony barn, with its falling fairy lights and tall Pilar candles, makes you feel like you are in an Italian chapel.
This really added to the ambience of the barn and made it perfect for saying the ‘I Dos’. It was very romantic and intimate.
We loved the cow sheds which made a nice quiet seating area for our guests. This was in contrast to the open courtyard, which was perfect for photos and dancing!
The venue itself is surrounded by greenery and stunning countryside views which make you feel like you are miles away from anything! It really is a magical place which will always be very special to us now.
We were married in spring and felt the venue very much reflected our decisions when planning the wedding.
We opted for a sophisticated spring country wedding style. In the outdoor open spaces, we filled glass jars and wooden crates with spring tulips. We also had big wooden boards with the timings of the day on and the seating plan which we felt really complimented the barn venue.
Inside the venue space we wanted it to feel cosy, and intimate. The fairy lights in old
Gin bottles and candles hanging from the barn pillars created a lovely hygge ambience.
We also hung photo bunting in the cow sheds which created a lovely individual touch.
Our centre pieces were personalised wedding crates with our initials and the date of the wedding with garden roses inside.
As our wedding day fell on Easter Sunday, we wanted there to be an Easter theme. So we had little glass jars with mini chocolate eggs inside, which the guests loved!
We wanted our wedding to be personal to us and as a performing arts teacher, the idea of singing and dancing was perfect to entertain and also surprise our guests!
Our favourite songs were sung during the wedding breakfast and all guests were up on their feet having the best time! It’s exactly what we wanted!
The communication was outstanding and very professional! Michael rang me before the big day. He did this to introduce himself, discuss song choices and how the day would work, making me feel completely at ease!
Michael is very approachable and easy to talk too, and it is very clear he wants to make your day perfect for you!
Michael was enthusiastic, passionate and set the rest of the wedding up with lots of energy!
His singing was amazing and so versatile. He could sing anything and make it sound good! He had all guests up on their feet singing, dancing and waving their napkins in the air!
Surprising our guests with our favourite songs, getting everyone involved (even our grandparents) and getting the guests ready for the night do!
