Welcome to our three-part blog series profiling some of our fabulous secret singers.

Today, we’ll be talking to the talented Adam Wilson (AKA Marco) about his background in entertainment, his performance style and his favourite moments working in a team of secret singers.

Hey Adam, tell us a little bit about your background. Have you always a had a passion for entertaining?

Definitely! My first taste of entertainment started at a very early age, my cousins would regularly dress me in their mother’s lingerie and parade me around family gatherings singing to the classics like Tina Turner (still one of my favourites that we sing in our Undercover Waiters sets).

Where did you train to sing?

I knew early on that this was the career for me, so I studied hard and managed to land myself a place at East 15 School of Acting in London to polish my craft (minus the lingerie of course!)

Do you have any career highlights you could share with us?

I have been very lucky to be able to travel around the world singing in beautiful hotels and performing in theatres. My career highlight would have to be singing in the Royal Albert Hall.

Tell us about your work as a singing waiter. What makes your secret singers performance unique?

I would say my unique skill set is my character I created years ago while working in a holiday resort. His name is Marco and he is cheeky, camp and very naughty, and popular with our clients.

Playing Marco allows me to get away with things I couldn’t as Adam, it’s great fun to be able to mess around and cause as much mischief as possible.

Tell us about some memorable moments you’ve had working as a Singing Waiter

Wow this is a hard question and I can honestly say I always have a great time working for the company. The list would be too long to fill you in on the great moments I’ve had.

If I had to choose, I would say the most memorable moment was when we won our first award for the prestigious, I DO Wedding Magazine for Best Entertainment, I can honestly say I’ve never felt such emotion when they called our names, Finally, all our hard work and dedication had paid off. Since then we’ve won the award again but hey… no need to brag!

Any funny moments you could tell us about secret singers?

There have been so many, but one of my funniest moments to date was when I was in full swing and I decided to drop into the splits (I am rather flexible!).

Unfortunately, this backfired, and I ended up ripping the crotch out of my trousers, I only noticed when the guests were pointing and laughing at my nether regions. And yes before you ask dear reader, I WAS wearing pants!

What do you love most about performing as part of a team of secret singers?

The most rewarding part for me is the look on the guests faces when we’re doing our thing. Looking around the room and seeing the guests laughing, crying, dancing and generally loving life.

That has to be my favourite part. It’s also a blessing that I get to work with my best mate and Managing Director, Michael and of course the rest of our talented team. We’re all a bit nuts!

What makes a great singing waiter?

As one of my favourite performers Ru Paul says: ‘Charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent’.

Why should people book the services of The Undercover Waiters?

I think we have to look firstly at Michael, our managing director.

He really cares about our clients and ensures our services are always 5-star quality, working away behind the scenes that make the work we do possible.

And then we have to talk about the Undercover Waiters Team who are all incredible performers who have worked in the industry for years. We know how to hold the attention of a room full of people and put on the best show possible.
